The history of Dermatology PA begins with Dr. Henry Michelson in 1928 in the Downtown Minneapolis. Dr. Michelson is widely regarded as the godfather of dermatology in the United States. Dr. Sheldon Mandel joined Dr Michelson in the early 1950s and practiced in the Medical Arts Building together. The other branch of the office started with Dr. Robert Goltz, then the head of the Dermatology Department at the University of Minnesota, who hired Dr. Nadine Smith, the first woman dermatologist in the state, in 1958. These two practices merged in 1994 when Dr. Mandel joined Dr. Ide after Dr. Smith retired from practice. On December 1, 2008, Downtown Dermatology became Dermatology, P.A., and moved to 7300 France Avenue S., Suite 400 in Edina. The full history of the office is done as a timeline in a display in the waiting room of the office in Edina. Make sure to have a look at the history!
